is escalade in the blue moutnains on next year?

I had a look at the website but there isn't much updated.

According to this, it's scheduled for the 10th-12th April 2009.

And there may be a 'deep pool soloing' event.

Pool, April and Blue Mountains could make for some very cold climbers.

It was bloody cold there last year, I remember (very little) wearing my down jacket most of the weekend. The slack line was held over the pool and virtually everyone who competed went into the drink at some stage.

I'll be there for sure next year. Can I buy a ticket now?

It was a top event, and hopefully the weather will be kinder for the next one, as camping at the school ground in the constant mizzle proved a little difficult for some*.
(*Families with young kids, and also motorcyclists without tents!).

>Can I buy a ticket now?
Last one, they had an 'early bird' price on tickets (including selected workshops / guest speaker sessions), but from memory ticket sales only started two or three months(?) before the event.

You were there M9? Might be a good opportunity for some Chock-stoners to hook up?

I'll wear a red hex around my neck all weekend.

From the Festival website: http://www.climbingfestival.com.au/tickets.html

"Tickets for the Australian Climbing Festival 09 will be available in December 08."

Yep; & here is a trip report (of sorts), about it.

Should be. Part of the ethos of the event is catching up with others ... !

>I'll wear a red hex around my neck all weekend.
Hmm.
How will that make you stand out at a climbers gathering?
;-)

Laugh out loud!

My bad. I should have thought of that / remembered that times have changed since days of trad!
Now I know for sure I wouldn't recognise him if he was wearing a ringbolt around his neck!!

I'm probably wrong, but I don't really think of the Blueys as a Sport region. More a trad area with some bolts for the people who can't place gear...

That's so cool that people are allready talking 'bout Escalade. I've arranged work schedules around it and plan The Climbing Festival as the beggining of a road trip. Very EXCITING . I highly recommend this event and would suggest getting a pre-paid full event ticket for a value , hassle free time. Hope to see yas all there.

WTF the festival will now be held in 2010 according to their website. I thought it was meant to be biannual.

Hmmmm. Good and bad I suppose. Bad cos I want it sooner, but good because it looks like my inconsiderate sister is going to be married at Easter in 09.

This is disappointing news, and I heard it was due to not being able to secure a major sponsor in time for the event.
I am obviously a commercial bumbly, as I thought Easter was still 4 months away yet ...
I know that it must be an incredible amount of hard work behind the scenes, but I hope the enthusiasm of potential organisers & helpers does not dwindle due to the extended time frame of waiting out till 2010, notwithstanding the 'economic crisis' that potential sponsors are going through.
