Was just perusing a previous thread on what's helped improve climbing performance, which I'm interested in, but more so with actual measures. And I'm happy to go by grades. SO, how quickly did you improve e.g. leading 5 grades higher after 6 mths? Grades 13-18 easier to improve than 23-28? Also, how? 4 days on 1 day off, diet, etc?

I suggest you buy a hang board my man. Rock hardware sells some good ones. They can come with a whole series of training sessions. A house mate of mine bought one some time back and it's done wonders for my climbing!

i think when your starting out just go rock climbing. we were talking about this last night at the pub and i/we surmised its probably better to learn how to climb on rock then train hard. training will help heaps with getting better but up to about 25-26 technique, your head and level of pysche will get you to the top of most routes. from there its when most people have to start training to see further improvements.
this isnt gospel, just how ive found it! :)

Bugger. And there I was thinking that training had got me to where I am. It was just because I have been psyched!!!

yeah i'm defintiely on the climbing path to improvement, but, just going and climbing while yes I am improving, i'm still finding the same problems (weaknesses?) such as poor footwork, pumped forearms, slow on o/hang, missing rests.

leading on rock, i think shoudl help address these, for sure
have you ever just done say, for a month climbed on 5 grades below your peak, and solely concentrated on footwork? if yes, results?

yep, quite a bit.
but, part of climbing for me is improving and trying to achieve certain goals. that's not gonna happen if i just jump on anything from grade 5 through 35 and don't give a f'uck
