G'day All,
I need some photos for a brochure I'm putting together and I'm willing to pay around $5-$20 each for them. They need to be of a high enough quality for brochure use. Here's what I need:
Groups of kids climbing (10-20 years old)
Helmets worn on climbers and belayers
Must be in Australia and preferably Victoria
Lots of fun, smiles, close ups etc.
I'll probably send you a waiver so that whoever is in the shot can give permission for us to use them.
If you are happy to provide these, please send them to info@xtremeadventures.net.au
Thanks for that.

Matthew,
No offence mate but your rates are absurdly below any half-decent commercial rates - by a ridiculous margin, and I'm pretty sure that's an accurate comment without even knowing the full facts of what you are asking. There might be a few punters around flattered to see their shots in print for some unknown commercial use, but I'd have to recommend anyone against that.
I won't be sending in any shots for this, not at those rates or anything close, but some of the information you might want to provide ppl if you are serious about getting contributions for your commercial brochure are: what is this brochure being used to promote? How many copies are being printed? And how widely is it being distributed? That way photographers can know what usage rights they are going to be licensing to you, and they can decide if it’s something they want to support and if it’s worth their time etc.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi Matthew,
Simon is correct. If you want to put together a brochure for commercial use then you shouldn’t expect to obtain your images at such ridiculously low payment rates. If for whatever reason you don’t want to go through an established photo library then your best bet is to approach some of the up and coming young climbing photographers who would love the work. Just remember though that these photographers are also trying to earn a living and they have to eat. If you simply can’t afford to pay professional rates then I suggest that you ask your friends for their happy snaps. But in the end you get what you pay for….
Cheers,
Glenn Tempest

If any photographers out there want to know an approximate market rate for this type of commerical photography then visit Corbis and input the variables, usage/print run size/ placement etc.
www.corbis.com
and do a search for 'climbing kids'
>>>I'll probably send you a waiver so that whoever is in the shot can give permission for us to use them.
How else can you can you have photos of "Lots of fun, smiles, close ups etc."? With photographs of kids It will be a legal mine field if you don't have a waiver from the parents/guardians.
