I was reading Bill's blogg of his volunteer efforts and had a few tears, it's a great read.

When we went to Thailand in 2004 I was having all sorts of problems, it seems I'd bulged a disc in my neck a few months prior to leaving and was close to being paralyzed, I'd been climbing with headaches, shoulder pains, tingling and lack of feeling in my hands etc. Not linking all the symptoms together in typically blokey fashion, "she'll be right, a few painkillers/drinks will fix it"......NOT!

The upshot is that I couldn't go back to help as a volunteer, or look at our holiday pics for months without shedding a tear, particularly of the longtail guys with their huge smiles who may have died/lost their livelihood, still get upset, it's amazing that with the harshness of survival there, the rorts etc that generally, the Thai people still maintain a level of innocence and the "land of a million smiles", the Thai people have a place in my heart forever!
