Hi All,
I'm an Irish climber living in Kiwi land at the moment. I'm heading over to Oz in early Oct. I'm planing to be back here in Jan and Feb to do some alpine stuff. I'ould like to be working outdoor. I'ave done all sorts fuit picking, building, painting, outdoor edu.,engineering. So sa you can see form the fruit picking I'm not fusy. I just want somthing easy to get into and pay ok. Somthing close to Mount Arapiles would be nice. Well it is world famous. All ideas welcome,

I heard that National Parks Victoria needs a wombat sexer for the Grampians area. Must be able to work nightshifts, and have own velcro gloves etc.
Failing that, I heard that the Shepparton Fruitgrowers Council is looking for an importer of NZ fireblight for their apple industry.
I am sure that either party could set you straight should you enquire with them.

Good luck in finding some work and enjoy your trip to OZ. Fruit picking area's are all a fair drive away from Mt Arapiles, other work maybe closer by.
Also for supplimenting vegie stocks at Araps - O'Connors organic farm 2 km south of the campsite at Arapiles has cheap vegies. You also used to be able to work for the day on the property usually weeding in exchange for a decent supply of vegies (you may need to check they still do that though, it's been too many years since I've been there)
Cheers Martin

Sorry Daithi.
I apologise for sending up your enquiry, as I thought it a hoax and was feeling bored / frivolous.

Good one A5, I could come over extremely sanctimoniously here if I wasn't also guilty of the same fault. Kieran

If you are heading over in the spring, you may wish to chase up some lawn mowing guys, they like to keep there wages down by paying cash, and spring is thier busiest time.
