A reason not to wear a helmet Tuesday, 5 April 2005 At 12:58:17 PM bapak

One of the Safest "Sports" around is "Russion Roulette" (of the "put one bullet in the chamber
& spin the barrel & click @ side of head variety)

The last (reported) death was a Sydney Nth Shore Private Investigator back
in the early 80's = 1 death in over 20 years = must be pretty safe eh ?

* It was a "practical" joke he performed whilst showing off in front of his female assistant
who was "less than impressed" = he was dickslectick = forgot that the chamber clicked on
in an "anti clockwise direction" & he put the single 0.45 bullet in @ the 1 o'clock position thinking he could click 5 times with "minimal risk" (of losing count ?) & BLAMMM!! (squirt)

# Now that i have your attention ;-

* I do own a helmet.
* I don't always wear it.

* I always wear it if :- I think there is a "raised chance" of a head injury
Belaying under the "Target Area" of the "Firing Rock range",
Anything that involves Leading,
On any route has a potential pendulum
Taking photos close to the edge of a drop
Taking photos with the potential to flip upside down
Any Solo activity

PS The Widow of the Nth Shore guy that died whilst playing RR tried to extract money from his Life Insurance Company & they wouldn't pay out (not wearing a helmet ?) Nope =
fine print in policy had a "an unacceptable known risk" clause = 16.67% Chance of death was less than acceptable ! (unless he was a proven "poor shot" ??)
