I had a look at the Kinglake quarry on this morning's ride. There's a large boulder in the middle of it all which has some undercut bits, as well as a 45 degree featured "cave" on the right wall of the quarry. There also seems to be a pretty climbable high-ball overhung arete which would be awesome if it were solid ... which I don't think it is ...

Of the three bits I mentioned, the boulder looks most solid, the arete a fraction worse and the cave totally unclimbable by anyone over 20 kilograms. Top outs are also a major problem on all except the boulder as it "grasses out".

You will of course have to dodge the local bullets - the "keep out" sign is riddled with bullet holes, and I suspect that some of the "misses" have ended up in the cliff wall.

I was suffering in the heat this morning so didn't get off. Next time I will check it out and give a definitive report. It's probably worth checking out although I suspect it might end up like Mooroduc quarry and have some impressive unclimbable (because of the quality of the rock) lines, and some shit climbable ones. All this with no water to cool off in either ...
