I'm sure many of you already know about this, but for those that don't there will be a special screening of the large format film 'Everest' at IMAX on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th June. This event features Peter Hillary speaking about his experiences. For more information and to buy tickets go here

I presume this is the same film that David Braeshers filmed - shot at around the same time as the great Everest disaster of '96 or whenever it was.
Keep an eye out for a scene early in the film. The dishy Spanish climber is shown climbing some route on a seacliff. if you look closely, you can see her using bolt-on plastic holds. Very poor form, I say.
But by the same token, it pales into insignificance against jugging fixed ropes, using ladders etc etc.
If you haven't seen it, it's worth the ticket price - much of the stuff shown on IMAX is horribly contrived. A film about Everst at least justifies the use of a f----off big screen.
Cheers,
Tim

I think your right Tim. David Braeshers is the only person I can think of that has lugged an IMAX camera up Everest. An inspired effort in it's own right.
I think the film is worth watching just for the spectacle of watching the heap of tin called a Russian helicopter actually fly.

I havent' seen the film and I'm not sure that I'll be checking out the 'talent' of a certain Spanish climber... However I am interested in hearing Hillary speaking about his experiences - think the money is worth it for that alone.

Neil,
I have heard that as well. Something about lugging all that equipment up to the top of Everest just sounds quite tiring, no matter how many people you have.
However, the film is still good value due to the size of the screen and the very identifiable subject matter, but then again I did happen to like Vertical Limits as well!
cheers
