anchor spikes for Diamond Bay fisherman's ladders

This descent has a horrible wobbly ladder that I'm replacing with help from UTS climbers UTSOAC).

The rest of the descent has (rusting) spike with ropes tied to them. One I replaced a few years ago was 12 mm bar, rusted down to 5 mm where it came out of the rock
I found some 19mm stainless bar and was able to drill a hole through it an pound in some 10mm stainless stock, the 'cross' should stop ropes lifting off it. A weld would be nice to keep the bar in, but for the moment the bar has been bent, and centre-punched.

I could imagine belaying on one of these. There was a welded cross anchor on the 3 sisters route I think, a monument for Big Willis

I could ask around some friends and I think I could probably source a titanium equivalent if you think there would be merit?

Could you add a ring on the end, and two small balls on the crossbar . .
Just to give it a nice nautical feel . . .

So far there's been no evidence of SCC in stainless in Sydney. The earliest rings were place din the early 90s and still seems bomber.

BUT one SCC researcher believes that SCC in stainless 'depends only on the patience of the researcher'

I'll pull up all the relevant papers and write it up for Chockers. In the meantime, send the Ti to Ti-land

Mikl; are you trying to undermine traditional fisherman descent/ascent tactics by the advent of spurt-climbing technology?

Link to an alternative view?

Another link to a further bit of history about that Cross.

Post edit:
There are more references (google search this site), to that cross for any that care to follow it up further...

Thanks for the info IdratherbeclimbingM9; I think we belayed on the cross on one of my first climbs with Adrian Cooper
