I'm looking for ideas of where to escape the Wimmera to over January. Weeks above 40 isn't pleasent.

Anyone care to share their favourites, recommendations.

Currently i've been recommended to go to the Darren's and Paynes Ford in NZ, Mexico and my own suggestion - Tassie.

Much Obliged

El Chorro in southern Spain is a good winter option.

No. Not in the same league as Tassie.
Freycinet, Frenchmans Cap, Ben Lomond, Mt Wellington, Tasman Peninsula ... and then of course the best of them all: Freuhauf!

The Darrans are really, really good and I imagine would make a nice change from the Wimmera. I know very well travelled mountaineers and also sport climbers that love the place, so something for everyone! You do want to be relatively solid at either the big route or sport game though.

Kalymnos. Relatively cheap, lots of routes, not climbed out, locals appreciate the climbers, culturally interesting, great food, lots of local Australian connections, plenty of activities for rest days and it is an easy link up with climbing in Southern Turkey.

I have about a month. Looking for sport/trad where it would be easy enough to find a partner. The wimmera is too hot, and i left Siurana in December as it was getting. I guess i'm looking around for options that are in season enough to find partner (if none of my friends want to come), and get good climbing conditions.

Cheers

Tassie is an enticing option Doug. Many places left to explore. And as for Freuhauf I used to live nearby and still have a few lines to tick :)
