Hi All,

D.A.G. The DogFace Appreciation Group is planning a Ewbank commemorative get-together to mark Johns birthday, 29/2, on the weekend at the end of the month from Friday 28/2 to Sunday 2/3 ....

Fixed lines will be available for access to different parts of the cliff, guided tours can probably be organised and guiding/beta may also be provided for anyone wishing to have a climb ....

Still working out the finer details so get it touch if you have any particular ideas to put forward . . .

So Be There! Or be scared . . .

Sounds like fun, you swinging pitches or what . . . .
I have done the first pitch to the main ledge, and looked at freeing the roof section . . . Hmmm....
Anyone got details on Warwick Payten? He seems to have claimed it at a rather high grade?
Really wish I was not carrying a shoulder injury at the moment . . .

Fun and frolics guaranteed to those who can make it along . . ..

M. this is rather in jest< i have a broken elbow and getting rod up or down there is pretty hopeful but your thread deserves a bump. Gargantuan is one of the routes i really regret not having a go at when i could of in fair means, still rod may reply with a yes, we have a secret weapon Reno who we could sandbag in. particularly if we can rap in and run away!

Born in a leap year eh? ... No wonder he was a special person that created the worlds best climbing grading system!

... of my better half (in my case), as that is a significant date for us.

~> However, on the topic of Macciza organising things at Doggie (or elsewhere), do you have a date in mind for the Bluey's-aid-fest* mentioned at the Buff-aid-fest?
~> ~> Hopefully not coinciding with any other significant dates for me, which includes the Australian Climbing Festival in October...

(* I kindaneedtoknow, as I have some other adventures on the boil...).

Will the day involve actually removing the Army ringbolts at the top of the cliff, rather than just bashing them about with a hammer and leaving them useless but still in the rock?

Maybe would send an Commando Force in advance to do the dirty work . . .

The Rings of Never-owned - Volunteers wanted . . .
Objective- Decommission Army Rings
Method - Nighttime black-ops attack from opposite headland; descend, cross valley and ascend scree slope to base of wall undetected, climb 100m cliff using various aids; decommission Rings and abseil back down cliff and proceed to extraction points.

Should you be captured you are on your own and we shall disavow all knowledge of the operation.

** Depending on your device, it may self-destruct in 10 seconds . . . . . . . . . ^

Yeah I thought of that but political correctness doesn't really allow it . . . .

I mean sure, climbing on the Dog could be thought to dFAG your average spurt climber, though that is not meant to cast aspersions or suggest that The FAG doesn't climb there, or can't or won't or that if they did they would be dFAG'd, or anything like that . . . It also would not be meant to suggest that because you do climb there that your are anything else . . .

But only true DAGs really know what they are talking about when it comes to doing it Doggie style . .
