Hey there!
i'm heading to Tassie over xmas and wanted to know if someone can recommend some easy trad areas and moderate bolted climbing areas? i thought most of tassie was trad but recently heard there are quite a few bolted areas now. i would prefer bolted, only because i havn't had time to get my "head" back into trad.
Thanks!

Coles bay for the best easy trad in the state. Hillwood has probably got the highest concentration of moderate grade bolted climbs (depending on your definition of moderate). I'm not a huge fan of Hillwood, but some people love it.

I'll be down there then as well. PM me if you want to have a climb, I'll probably go to Mt Wellington for some easy trad.

Lost world has some pretty nice bolted/mixed/trad moderate routes close to Hobart - it's up the mountain so can be pretty cold

I'll also be there xmas and beginning of Jan - txt me if you need climbing partner

Not many moderate bolted routes at lost world are there? The easiest I can think of off the top of my head is Roger's 24 arete. Some awesome cracks though. Worth going up to check out the trinity of Atlantis, Cruise Air and Savage Journey.

You're probably right Cam - remember going there years ago without any trad gear and having a good time, but no idea which routes we were on tho

There is a classic 24 'After Nidnight' 40m at the Organ Pipes above Hobart.
There are also some smaller city crags such as Freuhoff in Hobart.
I'd say Hillwood has largest concentration of bolts

Much as I love climbing at the Hoff, I can't say I'd travel interstate to climb there. It would be like going to Victoria to climb at Weribee Gorge (though I've gotta say, I quite like it there too).
You're right about After Midnight though, classic.

paradiso is the place to go! one of the better crags in the country IMO for sport climbing in the 22-26 range, absolutely stellar! down on the tasman peninsula.
mt wellingtons just a pleasure to climb on! sky rocket(20) is well worth the trip! anything with 3 stars is pretty mega up there!
cape raoul is one of better days out climbing to have in aus too. some fun trad climbing up to 18 gets you out to the amazing pillars made famous by the route Pole Dancer(22, sport). its well equiped now for an unforgettable experience!
