Hi Guys
I know nothing about climbing but my boyfriend really wants to try it out! So for his birthday I wanted to book an instructor / a lesson for him and the boys to do their first climb. I live in Sydney and can only find climbs in the Blue Mountains? Do any of you know anywhere in Kangaroo Valley or down South that may do beginner climbs? I have looked on google and can't seem to find anywhere??
Thanks heaps!

Apparently a few people climb in Nowra.

I think that's down that way.

Hi Ailisa

If he likes the idea of climbing and wants to check it out as a sport, then send him along to any one of the great climbing gyms in Sydney. They will provide basic belaying instruction and he and his mates can have fun on their own.

There are guiding companies that do outdoor climbing. I don't know which ones are good or bad. I think most head to the Blue Mountains for the experience, but that's an easy day trip.

Hey Ailsa,

We run outdoor days out of Hangdog Climbing Gym in Wollongong that are in Nowra over the Shoalhaven on a monthly basis and our next one is on in the next couple of weeks. Its all fully supervised and a great way to get out on rock. You don't need any experience either!

Call the gym and we can help you out on 4225 8369 or check our website for more info, photos, etc.

I don't mean to make that sound so spammy, but hey, if it helps you then its worth the plug!

Before you book a guided trip wait...go to weather maps @ bureau of meteorology and look for a big big high pressure system cruising across the state.....then book your climbing experience coinciding with the centre of that baby. Also why dont you go along too? Could probably arrange to simply be an observer.
