I was quite disappointed that there was no reasoning explained about any of the choices. After seeing the massive plug for the Golden Carrots on the cover I was expecting a little more.

The guy whos rope soloed 6x50mtr pitches of cornerstone rib probably 30 times in the last 30 years?? he is a champion my friend. you can read all about it in the litt..anyway , who won the carrots? And most importantly is there a post pregnancy sport mum of the year carrot category?

Sorry, it was early saturday morning shock when I read that I had won the prestigious Golden Carrot trad climber of the year; I am hard pressed to remember the last time I fiddled with wigglyshit. Most beginners and anyone south of the border would be tradder than me.

I would have maybe thought that some of those Tasmanian crankers might have had a look in.
Personally, I thought the biggest clue to the reasoning behind mikl's win was was the first sentence of the recent Ian Brown article "Big Trad" in the Autumn issue 2012,
It begins, "The editor says I should explain what the word "trad" means.....".
Nudge, nudge...wink, wink.....say no more!

Isn't this in the same mag that was being villafied a few months ago for knowing SFA about climbing?
One wonders when they'll get their act together.

maybe the route name "big trad thong" was what won the award.
personally I fail to see what carrots and trad climbing have in common ?
