Depends on context. If you're in the background of a scenery shot or a host of someone else, you're scenery. If the subject is *you* then there might be room for discussion, though generally it's fairly obvious when you're the subject of a climbing photographer's attention: the "hold that pose till your veins pop" is a bit of a giveaway.

At the very least I'd be asking for take-home copies at a decent resolution. An acknowledgement of your contributions would be nice, but I doubt you'd be up for cash after the fact. Did you talk to this photographer before they took the shots? Did they speak to you on the day? Were you in a gym (ha!) or elsewhere where you've signed away your image rights somewhere in the mile long application form?

Can you give us a bit more info so we can have a more sensible debate, or should we just throw you and WWS into a cage now?
