New climbing mag: Vertical Life

This morning we have launched a couple of months of blood, sweat and tears into a new climbing mag.

You can download it for the cost of NOTHING at www.verticallifemag.com.au - right in time for the annual climbing holy day celebration that is Easter.

If you love getting your zen on when on big cliffs (or tiny boulders), believe strongly that Having-Lats-Like-A-Bat-Is-Where-It's-At and love dreaming as you live vicariously through the exploits of others, it's for you.

Big thanks to all the helpers, the advice-givers and the hand-holders.

Simon and Ross - editors of Vertical Life

Far out man, good luck with that. From what I've seen publishing is a, ah, "tough route".

From what happened to Crux and the whole history of Australian climbing mags I feel that running and publishing your own is a f---ing hard and thankless task. I would therefore like to thank you for putting in the effort! If there was a version I could buy then I definitely would!

You might've been confused if you came through earlier this morning. I started a thread about this with a similar title earlier but Ross' post sold it better so I deleted the thread I'd created.

Wow great venture. Love the gentle footy piss take in the first editorial by one of "The Bomber's" favourite sons.

Mr Up, would that I were the man who revolutionised the modern ruck caper unfortunately I'm six inches shy and without any discernible talent. If I were really Mr Simon Madden I'd probably have forgone the coathanger dig and made reference to ending the career of the Swan's Gareth John by kicking him right in the throat.

Thanks for all the kind words over VL. Anyone that wants to follow our fortunes as they unfold, the easiest way for that to happen is on Facebook (you like us we like you)

Interesting to see that Ross and Simon are also both associated with Trail Run magazine which works on the same model and is also designed by the Bird Collective (and is also a highly recommended read if you like trail running). Both seem to be attracting a reasonable amount of advertising too, so hopefully it works for them!

Congratulations to Ross and Simon for a brilliant effort. Great to see new ventures into climbing publications in Australia. We've written a review of it which you can read here http://osp.com.au/?p=3261
Looking forward to the next instalment.

Cheers,
the team at OSP
