We are planning a ski tour on Mt Bogong this winter, with a climb up Quartz Ridge. Can someone please advise the best route into the foot of Quartz Ridge (i.e. to Bogong Creek Saddle) from the Falls Creek Road / Clover Dam area? Is the best route from the Clover Arboretum via the Tramway, or from below Clover Dam along the Big River Fire Track, or from below Clover Dam along the Roper Fire Track? With the latter 2, how easy is crossing the Kiewa River in August? If using the Tramway, I hear that part of the tramway is missing. Is it still possible to walk along this all the way from the Clover Dam area to Bogong Creek Saddle?
Anyone have any other comments?

Years since I've done it but crossing the Kiewa under Clover dam should be OK. Less climbing if you follow the aquaduct but it's officially closed and l understand there are some bits washed away. Might be covered with fallen timber too.

I rode my bike past it a couple of years ago from Tims Spur down to the power station. The re-growth was really thick on Quartz ridge, but I didn't go up it as I stayed on the road. It might be hard to find the track, but there's only one way to find out for sure.
