Hey , would any one who has travelled from N.S.W into Victoria on their way to Arapiles, be able to tell me if there is fruit fly control quarantine along the way ? And would i have to dispose of fresh fruit or are we able to simply take the fresh fruit with us ?
Thanks in advance : )

You're not meant to bring fruit past a certain point near the boarder and if you get caught there are heavy fines. That said I have made the drive five times and never gotten stopped and a couple of times accidentally taken fruit over

They have quarantine for a reason - its protect the economy of one of Austrailas major food producing regions. Please don't think you are special and get away with it - dump the fruit and veggies and buy new ones.

I appreciate that respective state agricultural services breed several million sterilised fruit flies per month for release and hence control of pestilence, but couldn't they have put up a sign in Deniliquin IGA before we crossed the border at Barham/Koondrook?

we had this problem driving to moonarie. Had fruit with us from melbourne and dumped it when we saw the signs. We bought fresh fruit at the next supermarket, and had to dump it again at the next quarantine area! Third time lucky.
